Hank flew military cargo over the Himalayas to China, Burma, and India. He had 475 recorded flight hours primarly in a C47. The flights over the Himalayas were the most treacherous air routes during WWII. They encountered monsoons from May to October and wind gusts that caused the plane to drop 2000 to 4000 feet.
